Friends and admirers have gathered to bid a heartfelt farewell the celebrated player for Leeds Rhinos and England, who раssеd аwау on June 2 at the age of 41 after a prolonged battle with motor neurone disease (MND).
Earlier this month, a significant turnout paid their respects to the Rugby League icon. A civil reception was held at Leeds Civic Hall to celebrate Rob’s life and achievements. The event, organized by Abigail Marshall Katung, the Lord Mayor of Leeds, was attended by Rob’s family and around 180 guests, including former teammate Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Tanya Curry, CEO of the MND Association, and James Lewis, leader of Leeds City Council.
Burrow, who lived in West Yorkshire, раssеd аwау in a nearby hospital just hours before the groundbreaking ceremony for a new MND research center named in his honor.
On July 7, hundreds of people lined the streets to pay their respects as Burrow’s hearse made its way to a private service. The streets were awash with Leeds Rhinos shirts, and junior players from Featherstone Lions ARLFC also joined the procession in their team gear. A police motorcycle escorted the hearse, followed by five cars carrying Burrow’s wife, Lindsey, and their three children, Macy, Maya, and Jackson.
